Asphalt Bending Beam Rheometer (BBR)
Asphalt bending creep tester is a precision testing equipment used to determine the crack resistance performance of asphalt or asphalt emulsion under low temperature conditions. It simulates the creep deformation behavior of asphalt materials in low-temperature environments, evaluates their low-temperature crack resistance and stress relaxation ability, and is mainly used for asphalt performance evaluation in the Superpave (high-performance asphalt pavement) system.

Main features 

Low temperature performance testing: The test is usually conducted within the range of  -6 ° C to -36 ° C  to simulate the cracking behavior of asphalt in cold climates.
Accurate loading: Conduct three-point bending tests using a constant load (usually 100g or 980mN ) to measure the creep deformation of asphalt beams.
Automated control: Equipped with a computer control system, Rheometer Bbr automatically collects data and calculates the creep stiffness (S) and creep rate (m value).

Test Principle

Sample Preparation: Pour asphalt into standard sized small beams (6.35mm × 12.7mm × 101.6mm) and cure them at a constant temperature at the test temperature.

Loading Test: Apply a constant load (100g) in a low-temperature environment to cause three-point bending deformation of the asphalt beam.

Data Collection: Record the deformation curve within 60 seconds and calculate:
  • Creep stiffness (S): Reflects the low-temperature deformation resistance (smaller S = better crack resistance).
  • M value: Reflects stress relaxation ability (larger m = better crack resistance).

Yes. The system utilizes precision air bearings with near-zero friction and a high-resolution LVDT (0.05um resolution) to capture even the smallest creep deformations in high-viscosity materials.

Our "One-Click Testing" automates startup, temperature control, preloading, data acquisition, and unloading. It also features intelligent zero-adjustment and real-time curve display for S stiffness and m-values.
Is daily maintenance and calibration difficult?
Maintenance is simplified with a built-in calibration module (standard beams and weights included). The liquid tank is made of high-grade 304/316 stainless steel to prevent rust from ethanol/methanol media.
